He’s the man behind Catalyst Power and B.C.’s first anaerobic digester, which takes cow manure and turns it into biomethane, a product similar to natural gas that is fed directly into a Fortis pipeline in Abbotsford. The process uses raw manure, preventing it from being spread on fields where it releases methane that contributes to poor air quality...
Any farmer will tell you the amount of livestock and land needed to keep a single family farm afloat has been steadily increasing over the decades. The result is more manure and a greater demand for farmland (both for feed and to get rid of the manure). Fraser Valley farmland is already being squeezed by development, and it has become among the highest priced agricultural land in the country. All this leads to big debt, bigger farms, and some pretty unsustainable environmental practices..."

$26.5 Million For Research, Innovation and Commercialization.
"A sea change takes some impetus. In horticultural research in Ontario, that change happened eight years ago when the Vineland research station reinvented itself as the partner-driven Vineland Research and Innovation Centre. And it got a boost earlier this week when Ottawa and the Ontario government announced they were combining forces to give the centre a whack of money - $26.5 million over five years - for research, innovation and commercialization."
